I play an indie-rock covers night with my good friend Chris Maddin every Wednesday night at the Broadway 5050, and since July we’ve dedicated the last Wednesday of every month to covering an album in its entirety as faithfully as possible (with the help of our very talented musical friends). In July, we performed Wilco’s Yankee Hotel Foxtrot. In August, we performed David Bowie’s The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars, for which we went totally glam (photos and a short video here). For September, we recreated Arcade Fire’s debut album, Funeral. The night has grown to be a huge success, and this month we’re doing a very special Halloween edition of … well, we can’t announce it just yet! But rest assured there will be a poster for it.
Filmmaker (and friend) Jose Lozano of Magic Spoon Productions (based out of Austin) filmed the whole Arcade Fire show in HD, and it looks fantastic. Watch the video below, and also check out the other videos on the Magic Spoon site. Enjoy!
